Great instructions, but whatever I do it doesn’t work quite right for me. When I delete something in Evolution it isn’t deleted from Gmail, it is just marked [Imap]/Trash. It’s really frustrating I can’t figure it out. I’d really appreciate any suggestions.

    • I believe I understand what you are experiencing. Gmail like so many other products like, drive, analytics etc does not really delete information immediately. It is simply moved into a “trash” bin. So evolution knowing that it is still there does not remove it. Google spokesperson said that after 30 to 60 days then it is permanently deleted. I know it is heard thinking that an email is deleted when it really is not and it makes for a frustrating time when using 3rd party applications. However in this instance it would seem that Evolution is right and that the Gmail interface is misleading.
