Hey everybody I want to let you know that I have undertaken the grueling task of getting the heck away from WordPress. I was so sick of the problems and updates I had to do all the time. I am now using my ezbloo system and I am integrating all my old posts into the new system. It sucks, but in the end, I will save bundles of time. I needed to keep things simple and that is why I created ezbloo. I'll have more on this later for you guys after I am done with the total integration of my old posts here. So if you are looking for a post and need it faster, shoot me an email and I will make it a priority. [email protected]

To synchronize Google Drive with Linux Mint, follow the steps below. This is a straightforward task and even if you're technically challenged, as some say, you will get through this with no problems. I did not leave out any steps, and I created this so that it is easily understandable. If you disagree, then leave a comment below, and I'll try to help you out.

How Does Synchronization With Google Drive Work?

When you synchronize your files and folders with your Google Drive, then you change that file or folder in real time. For example, if you have 3 computers, a tablet and a smartphone connected to Google Drive, you would change them all at the same time that you are working on the file. Furthermore, if not connected to the internet, then you cannot access those files. You must always have an internet connection in order to take advantage of synchronizing your Google Drive with all your devices.

Prerequisites To Synchronize Google Drive with Linux Mint

This tutorial already assumes that you have a Google Drive account with files and folders in it. We also assume that you are working from Linux Mint, so you can copy and paste the commands that we are going to provide.

Google Desktop Environment

Your Google Desktop Environment is just like any other folder on your computer, tablet or phone. They usually label it "Google Drive" and then you have your additional folders and files within that "Google Drive" folder. The advantages of doing it this way eliminates the confusion and overwriting newer changes on the files and folders you are working on.

Install Google Drive On Linux Mint

Here are the steps. We are going to install the GNOME Control Center and GNOME Online Accounts. If you already have them installed, then don't worry, this will not hurt your system at all.
  1. Open terminal by typing Ctrl + Alt + T
  2. Type in the following command and hit enter.
    sudo apt-get update
  3. Type in this next command and hit enter.
    sudo apt-get install gnome-control-center
  4. Next type this into the terminal and hit enter.
    sudo apt-get install gnome-online-accounts
  5. Go to start button and open the Applications.
  6. Navigate to "System Settings".
  7. Navigate to "Online Accounts" in "System Settings".
  8. Click "Google".
  9. Enter your Gmail Address.
  10. Enter your Gmail password.
  11. You will get a pop-up, click "Allow".
  12. You will get another pop-up that shows options for your Google Account.
  13. Close the pop-up and you are ready to go!

Accessing Your Google Drive Folder on Linux Mint

Now open up your folders and navigate to where it says "Network". There you will see your new Google Drive folder. Now that you know how to add and work your Google Drive on Linux mint, you may need to remove it in time. We will talk about that on the following page.
