So many of my friends and clients get emails like this. They can look legit at first but then take a closer look. I will show you an email that I got this morning that will cost you BIG TIME if you click on the link.
When you first see an email like this you may be alarmed. This email is suggesting that someone got into my MetaMask Wallet somewhere. However, take a closer look to what I circled in red.
Look at that email address. vmhxq2ml ? What kind of place uses that kind of email? I'll tell you, an amature hacker! fraud-alerts.org? What in the world would that have to do with Meta? Notice the reply address, [email protected]? I just have to laugh at this. All these are hallmarks of a spammer. The link is designed to get my private information. So if I click on it, I then will try to log into my Meta account but what really happens is they get my login information. Please do not fall for this!
OK if you have found that you have clicked on a link like this and mistakenly entered your private information like a password. Make sure that you go to the real site and change your password. See my post here on setting up a secure password that you can remember forever!
Many people do not understand how emails work. Most email providers like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook and others do the best they can to protect their users. However, when they hide this kind of information to quitely get rid of the spammers and scammer, then you are not educated in doing it. I like to use Thunderbird for my email client, why? Because I get to see everything about the sender if they get through. See my post her on how to combine all your email addresses together using Thunderbird. Your best defence in fighting spammers and scammers is not an email program that hides all the attackers from you but one that reveals who they are! Yes knowledge is your best defence against spammers and scammers!
