Hey everybody I want to let you know that I have undertaken the grueling task of getting the heck away from WordPress. I was so sick of the problems and updates I had to do all the time. I am now using my ezbloo system and I am integrating all my old posts into the new system. It sucks, but in the end, I will save bundles of time. I needed to keep things simple and that is why I created ezbloo. I'll have more on this later for you guys after I am done with the total integration of my old posts here. So if you are looking for a post and need it faster, shoot me an email and I will make it a priority. [email protected]

You may be wondering how to set a picture as your desktop or wall paper background. Well there are a few things that you need to know. The size of the desktop background is the first thing that you have to consider. The reason why is ratios. I discussed more about ratios in this post here. However, that post dealt more about Facebook image ratios. Template for this lesson.

Desktop Wallpaper Sizes

The most common size for a desktop background is a 16:9 ratio. FHD is an acronym for Full High Definition. This size would be 1920X1080 pixels. However, you could create other image size as long as they match the 16:9 ratio.
  • 1920×1080 (50.3%) – FHD
  • 2560×1440 (18.8%) – QHD
  • 3840×2160 (15.7%) – 4K

Laptop Background Picture Sizes

This is also a 16:9 ratio but since we are on a smaller screen with laptops we don't need to use such a large image. The best size for laptops are 1920X1080 pixels.
  • 1920×1080 (57.6%) – FHD
  • 1366×768 (19.2%) – HD
  • 2560×1600 (2.8%) – QHD
  • 3840×2160 (2.7%) – 4K

How To Create Image With Correct Size

If you have an image, but it is the wrong size, you can correct that for free with GIMP. I talk a lot about GIMP in previous tutorials. It is a free program and can do anything that photoshop can do. All you have to do is fire up your GIMP program. Go to file, select "new" and right there GIMP will ask you what size you want to make your canvas. If you need more information about these sizes, please check out this post.
